Zacharias's Prophesy

Our God is faithful IN all His promises

John The Baptist

You Must Trust in God's Promises and Praise Him

When Gabriel the angel was sent to Zacharias to announce the birth of his child John the Baptist, he doubted, saying to him: "...“How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.” (Luke 1:8, 18 NKJV). Gabriel the angel had reproved him because he did not believe and had told him that he will be mute until God fulfills His promise.

He is The Amen and Faithful God

God is faithful and teaches us to be faithful like Him. The Scripture called Him in the Book of Revelation: “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:" (Revelation 3:14 NKJV).

Zacharias had to trust in the faithful God and then he had to praise God as St. Mary did. He was silent because his words had no significance. His silence denoted how we must react toward God's promises.

The Compassinoate and Merciful God

On the eighth day of John the Baptist’s birth, Zacharias, Elizabeth, his neighbors, and his relatives had been celebrating the occasion of the circumcision of John as was commanded of all the Jew. The neighbors and the relatives made a sign to Zacharias asking him about his son's name. At that moment, Zacharias could speak. He opened his mouth and uttered saying “his name is John.” His wife Elizabeth had foretold them the same name before. In the Old Testament, the name had meaning. This name John means that God is compassionate. Zacharias and Elizabeth chose this name for their baby to express their respectful good feelings toward God and also to acknowledge their belief and trust in God.

The Great Promise

When Zacharias spoke, he blessed the compassionate God, not only because God fulfilled His promise that he begot John and not only because He restored the capability of speaking, but mainly because the Merciful and the Faithful God fulfilled His promises to the fathers Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and to all the righteous of all generations who had been waiting for His salvation. Zacharias blessed the Merciful God glorifying the Savior saying : " ....For He has visited and redeemed His people, And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David, As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began, That we should be saved from our enemies And from the hand of all who hate us, To perform the mercy promised to our fathers And to remember His holy covenant, " (Luke 1 : 68-72).

God's Promises are Fulfilled in the LorJesus d Christ.

Zacharias and Elizabeth realized by The Holy Spirit that their son is the greatest among whom was born of women because he is the forerunner who will go before the Lord Jesus as Zacharias prophesied saying: “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins," (Luke 1:76-77 NKJV).

In Him All Scriptures are Fulfilled

The birth of our Lord Jesus is the most highly crucial promise God has fulfilled. The Scriptures are full of many promises which bear witnesses for the good and merciful God. We have to trust that God fulfills all His promises as He has proclaimed saying: "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away."(Matthew 24:35 NKJV).We have to rejoice in the Lord because God always fulfills his good promises "

He is the Cause of the Joy of Christians

All the promises of God are fulfilled in our Lord Jesus Christ. Everyone believes in Him will be saved and will not perish. So The Lord Jesus Christ is the cause of Zacharias’s joy and the joy of us all.
