Praising God is a Joy

St. Mary visi st Elizabeth

"And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed." (Luke 1:46-48 NKJV)

The Heavenly Father

God loves us because He is the heavenly Good Father but many people do not react with His love or consider it. They subsequently never enjoy His love not because He doesnot care with them or He does not grant them His blessings but because they cannot realize His love.

St Mary was grateful toward God's love

St Mary was grateful toward the Lord God because of the great things God had donefor her and for all the human race as she said: " For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name." (Luke1:49 NKJV). She meant by this what God had done in her life especially her pregnancy with the Logos the Lord Jesus Christ. She had believedin God as the Good Heavenly Father and so she had accepted the announcement of Gabriel the angel.

How to Rejoice in the Lord

She considered the gift of salvation to her and to all the human race. Subsequently, she rejoiced by the Lord as she said to Elizabeth: " And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generation will call me blessed, " (Luke 1:46-48 NKJV).

Humility and Joy in the Lord

St. Mary valued the great things that God had donefor her because she was humble. The humble can easily acknowledge God's gifts to him and easilyrejoices as St. Paul said: “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!" (Philippians4:4 NKJV). On the contrary the proud does not realize God's gifts, whatever its greatness. The humble are always thankfuland grateful toward God. His heart rejoices with The Lord, and this was the reason that St. Mary praised God.

The Humble Sing to the Lord.

The heart of the humble sends forth the praises to thebeloved God spontaneously and genuinely as St. Mary praises saying: "And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty." (Luke 1:50-53 NKJV)

What We Should Learn From St. Mary

Lastly, the song of St.Mary teachesus to be gratefulto God and not to forget the multitude of great things that God does for us every day and also to rejoice in the Lord and subsequently we shall praise the Lord, not by chanting only, but genuinely from ourhearts as King David said in the Psalm: " Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies," (Psalm 103:1-4 NKJV)
