The Heavenly Wisdom

Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”  Luke 5:5

Two Types of Wisdom

The Holy Scriptures inform us about two types of wisdom: heavenly wisdom and earthly wisdom. There is a great difference between the two. One is heavenly and its concern is love, peace, and holiness while the other's concern is how to fulfill the desires and lusts of the flesh. One type of wisdom is concerned with the Glorification of God and affairs of the neighbor but the other is selfish. God grants the heavenly wisdom to those who implore it but the earthly is of Satan.

It is demonic and depends on the evil; it leads to miseries and unhappiness and also ends with nothing as it is written, "Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures."James (4:1-3)

 "the Heavenly Wisdom is Fruitful"

Although the heavenly wisdom is despised and not acceptable from the children of the world, it is fruitful as St. James said, "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy."James (3:17)

Relationship Between Faith and Heavenly Wisdom

Children of God believe in Him, and so they accept the heavenly wisdom even if it clashes or goes against the earthly one. For example, the world depends on mere thinking and calculation only in management of its affairs. However, children of God pray first and sometimes fast and consult God before management of their affairs.

Submission to God and Heavenly Wisdom.

Heavenly wisdom needs submission to God and obedience to His commandments. St. Peter obeyed  our Lord Jesus and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” Children of God do not turn back or faint in the way. They are always reaching forward to those things which are ahead; they are pressing toward the goal as St. Paul mentioned, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall  tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" Romans (8:35)

Conclusion

Lastly we have to obey our God and depend on Him as it is written,

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5
