Transfiguration feast

Value and meaning of transfiguration

The feast is one of the minor feasts of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus took with Him three of His disciples up to Tabour mountain and His face was shining like the sun and His clothes became as white as the light. He was in a glorious state. Moses and Elijah had appeared with Him in glory. They were speaking with Him about his death which He was about to accomplish.

Heavenly declaration is the fruit of praying

When The Lord was praying He transfigured to this glorious state, and this refers that revelation is related to praying. It emphasizes the relationship between praying and the heavenly knowledge which is revealed to us during praying.

Lord was preparing His disciples by His transfiguration

Also we can notice that Moses and Elijah was conversing with Him about His crucifixion which the Lord preciously foretold His disciples six days before this time. He was intended to speak about His suffering and death while He was in a glorious state to emphasize that there is no glory without suffering or without bearing the cross as St Paul said:" and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together." (Romans 8:17 NKJV ).

The glory of the heaven

The Lord aimed to give them an example of the glory of the coming kingdom of God by His transfiguration as He told His disciples six days before:" But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.” ( Luke 9:27 NKJV ). Looking forward for the glory of the heaven instead of the vanity of the earth give us hope.as st. Paul said: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory," (2 Corinthians 4:17 NKJV )

The message

The appearance of Moses and Elijah with Him in a glorious state give us a message about the glory we will be in the kingdom of heaven, and also the generosity of Our God Who grant His saints honor and glory. It is also refers to the law which delivered to us by Moses and the prophetic Scriptures that Elijah refers to it. Both Law and prophetic Scriptures bear witnesses to the Lord Jesus Christ as it is written :" ...‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ ....‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ” ( Luke 16:29-31 NKJV ) Lord intends to draw our attention to the law and to the prophecies so that we will be saved.

Do not be afraid from death, It is just departure to heaven

Transfiguration encourage us to not be afraid from departure from this world because who passed away before as Moses and Elijah are still living and God grants them glory and this ensures what the Lord said:" For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.” ( Luke 20:38 NKJV ) glory to God for ever amen.
